The Dáil gates will bear witness to a protest by firefighters today, protesting at what they see as dangerous cuts to crew levels.
If the cuts proposed by the embattled Department of the Environment do go ahead, there could be a serious risk to public safety, according to a spokesperson.
SIPTU representatives said that the proposal would signify reductions of one or two crew members per appliance.
According to sector organiser Brendan O’Brien, the Department had not properly carried out a relevant risk assessment.
