Emergency crews have so far retrieved five bodies from the sea after a boat carrying around 100 migrants capsized just off the coast of Libya earlier today.
Rescue efforts continue, with many fearing that upwards of 40-50 people may have perished, including a number of children.
Migrant deaths have become an all too common occurrence in recent times. No fewer than 100 people died last week while attempting the perilous crossing between Africa and southern Europe.
