
During an operation to target individuals who are subject to deportation orders and are staying in Ireland unlawfully, five persons were taken into custody, reports RTE.
Operation Fern was conducted out this morning by gardaà from Dublin and officers from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB).
The five individuals who had deportation orders against them were taken into custody in the Dublin region, reports RTE.
While awaiting deportation, all five are presently in detention.
Prior to the GNIB getting the deportation orders, Detective Chief Superintendent Aidan Minnock noted that there had been “significant engagement” with each of the individuals detained, including the offer of a facilitated voluntary return package to their place of origin, reports RTE.
