Former World player of the year and football legend Pele has been admitted to hospital last night for a “medical evaluation” after cancelling his appearance at an event in his museum.
The news was confirmed by the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo who did not disclose why the former Brazilian star was admitted. The hospital did however release a brief statement saying that Mr Pele was currently “undergoing exams”. According to reports from local media sources it is understood that the 74-year-old was suffering from stomach pain, but his condition is not thought to be serious.
