A car used by Princess Diana has been sold at auction in the UK for £650,000 (€765,000).
The black Ford Escort RS Turbo, driven by Diana from 23rd August 1985 to 1st May 1988, was sold to a British buyer at the Silverstone auction on Saturday.
Diana was seen numerous times in the 80s outside Chelsea shops and Kensington restaurants in London pictured with the Ford that was sold.
It’s understood that she preferred to drive her own car and had a member of the Royal Protection Commando (SO14) in the passenger seat.
The car is said to be unique as the first and only black 1 Series Turbo, as agreed by S014 and Ford’s PR department for reasons of discretion, and not the only model produced in white.
Another car that Diana drove sold recently for £50,000.
