Former President of the United States Jimmy Carter has revealed that his cancer has spread to his brain. This morning the 90-year-old held a press conference at the Carter Center in Atlanta where he discussed how doctors have discovered four spots of melanoma on his brain. He had originally been diagnosed with liver cancer.
He plans to begin radiation treatment later today. He will undergo four courses of radiation to treat the cancer in his brain. Carter said that doctors first discovered the lesions when he underwent surgery to remove a small mass in his liver earlier this month.
He former President was upbeat, “I’ve had a wonderful life,” Carter said “I’ve had a wonderful life, thousands of friends. I’ve had an exciting and adventurous and gratifying existence. But now I feel that it’s in the hands of the God, whom I worship.”
Carter first revealed he had cancer last Wednesday.
