Former world snooker champion Terry Griffiths has passed away at the age of 77 after a prolonged battle with dementia, as confirmed by his family. Griffiths fought through the qualifying rounds to win the Crucible title in 1979. He also achieved victory in the Masters and the UK Championship, completing the sport’s prestigious ‘triple crown.’
In his later years, Griffiths became a highly regarded coach, mentoring notable players such as Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams, and Mark Allen. Three-time world champion Mark Williams was among the first to pay tribute on social media, referring to Griffiths as a “mentor, coach, friend, and legend.”
