The ‘Jobstowngate’ furore continues this morning, with four more people arrested in connection to it. These latest arrests bring the total number of people detained to 12 thus far.

The operation began on Monday last, with the arrest of Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy, Councillors Mick Murphy and Kieran Mahon, and Republican activist Scott Masterson.

Yesterday, three more individuals, two men, a woman, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested and questioned.

All arrested so far have been released without charge.

This morning, Gardai have arrested four men across different addresses in Tallaght, and the detainees are being held in Garda stations in Tallaght and Rathfarnham in Dublin.

The now notorious Jobstown incident saw Tanaiste Joan Burton become trapped inside her car by water charge protesters for over two hours. She was eventually and hastily transferred into a Garda vehicle and sped away from the scene.
