The Coast Guard say that they conducted a rescue where an injured fisherman had to be airlifted to hospital in Cork late yesterday afternoon. It is understood that the Coast Guard requested the assistance of the Air Corps in the operation.
A spokesperson for the Coast Guard say that crewman was winched from a fishing vessel around 200 miles south-west of Mizen Head. It is then understood that the injured man was quickly rushed to Cork airport, from where he was transferred to hospital.
