Campaigner for the homeless Fr. Peter McVerry has said that official Government figures are ‘nonsense’, and that it’s likely that upwards of 15,000 people will be without a home in Ireland this Christmas.
The official Government number puts the homeless at just over 10,000, but according to Fr. McVerry, this number is ‘irrelevant.’
Homelessness has been rising steadily under the watch of successive Housing Ministers, and the crisis shows no signs of abating any time soon due to Government inaction.
