
Fine Gael has experienced a decline in popularity with less than a week remaining before the general election, according to the most recent poll of polls, reports Breaking News.
Simon’s Harris’s party narrowly holds the highest public support at just below 22 percent, slightly ahead of its rivals, Fianna Fáil (21 percent) and Sinn Féin (19 percent).
Support for Independent candidates, including the newly established party Independent Ireland, has increased throughout the election campaign, now reaching 20 percent, reports Breaking News.

Fine Gael had seen a boost in support in recent months following Simon Harris’s elevation to leader.
Mr. Harris assumed leadership of Fine Gael in April after the party faced a decline in popularity under Leo Varadkar’s tenure, reports Breaking News.
Fianna Fáil and the Green Party have maintained relatively stable support at approximately 21 percent and 4 percent, respectively, over the past year.
Sinn Féin’s support has dramatically decreased from a peak of 36 percent in the summer of 2022 to around 19 percent currently.
At the same time, support for Independent candidates surged notably this year in anticipation of the local and European elections, reports Breaking News.
From the end of October 2023 to June 2024, the estimated backing for Independent candidates and other parties increased by roughly nine percentage points, reaching 21 percent.

Data is sourced from the Irish Polling Indicator, which is curated by UCD academic Stefan Müller.
All polling is based on a sample of respondents typically exceeding 1,000, which is then adjusted to be representative of the national demographics, reports Breaking News.
