The 6-year-old boy who was thrown off a balcony at the Tate Modern building in London was attacked by a schizophrenic teenager who had reportedly escaped from a secure care environment, authorities have revealed.
The perpetrator is a 17-year-old male with deep mental issues. The patient is not supposed to be in public without having at least two carers with him at all times.
It is therefore unclear how the teenager, who now faces an attempted murder charge, was able to walk around the Tate Modern building unaccompanied.
The victim, a 6-year-old French boy, fell almost 100ft. He survived the fall but remains in a critical condition in hospital.
