Heartbreaking condolences are still coming in for “kindhearted” Shay Lynch, who perished in a terrifying swimming pool accident over the weekend. Funeral plans have been confirmed, reports The Mirror.

Shay, 7, of Clonlara, Co. Clare, ran into trouble on Saturday afternoon after attending a birthday celebration at the Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre in Killaloe.

He was pulled from the sea unconscious, and at the poolside, attempts were made to preserve his life.

After the kid was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick, where he was declared dead, Gardaí and emergency services attended the hotel, reports The Mirror.

The hotel’s recreation center’s pool was promptly shut down.

Clare as a whole is “stunned and shocked and in mourning” by Shay’s untimely departure.

Shay will lie in state on Tuesday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at McMahon’s Funeral Home in Blackwater. He is survived by his distraught parents James and Tania as well as his sister Abi, reports The Mirror.

On Wednesday, April 24 at 11 a.m., there will be a funeral mass for him at St. Senan’s Church in Clonlara. He will thereafter be buried in the grounds of St. Thomas’ Church in Bridgetown, County Clare.

His death notice on RIP.ie says “Shay (James) died following a tragic accident. “Predeceased by his nana Christina. Survived by his heartbroken family, parents James and Tania, sister Abi, grandparents Jerome, Joe and Kathleen, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours and his many friends. May He Rest in Peace,” reports The Mirror.
