A 3-year-old girl who died after being hit by a car was remembered as a “little angel” after her funeral and was described as a “precious” and “gorgeous” child, reports The Mirror.
Rosaleen McDonagh was buried on Monday after she was killed in a collision near her home in Portlaoise, Co Laois last Wednesday at lunchtime.
Peter and Paul Church, Fr. John Byrne told the girl’s grieving relatives that she was “bright star among you”, reports The Mirror.
At the altar, next to a small white coffin, were Peppa Pig balloons and a sign with a picture of Rosaline that read, “Love you always, our little fairy girl, Rosaleen.”
Mourners also wore T-shirts made in her memory.
Speaking on behalf of the family, relative Mary Lou told the funeral service how much this loving girl was loved.
She said: “She was born a beautiful little angel, a precious, gorgeous little child. Her smile was the sweetest, our lives lit up every time she smiled. Her parents named her Rosaleen, but for short they called her Rosie. When sitting on a loved one’s lap, she’d cuddle up nice and cosy. Her eyes were like diamonds and that smile of hers was infectious. A little girl, too good for this world but to everyone she was so precious. She adored her mommy and daddy, to her sisters and brothers a treasure, her grandparents adored her too, loving her was a great pleasure,” reports The Mirror.
She added: “Rosie you were a little angel, a child sharing our lives for three short years. Then god took you home and left each one of us in tears. Rosaleen, her grandmothers, grandfathers, your mommy, your daddy, your aunties and uncles and all of your relatives love you very much,” reports The Mirror.
After applause from the mourners, Mary Lou’s words highlight the importance of Rosalyn’s life to any family, Fr Byron said.
