Fur ban: Dail to discuss proposals that will ban fur farming

Ireland could soon see a fur farming ban being introduced as proposals are set to be discussed in the Dáil later today.

It is understood that proposals which have been previously submitted by Solidarity-People-Before-Profit will be submitted by the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed in Oireachtas later.

Although there are only a small number of fur farms still operating in Ireland, it is believed that the latest proposals will outlaw the trade in the near future.

If passed Ireland will follow in the footsteps of 14 other EU countries who have moved to ban the farming of fur on wild animals.
