The anti-racism group Galway Anti-Racism Network (GARN) has been accused of discrimination by five former members who allege that they were ostracised from the group due to their pro-life beliefs.

The group which ironically claims its goal is “seeking to unite the different cultural, ethnic, and community groups in Galway around principles of solidarity and equality” was accused by member Luke Silke of discriminating against him for his stance on abortion, the Connacht Tribune reports.

Silke also claims he has been blocked from the groups Facebook page after he voiced his opinion that the GARN should focus on opposing racism rather than advocating abortion.

The group also informed Silke, who attended GARN’s rallies including one against US President Donald Trump, that they “do not invite pro-life people to their events.”

In a case of even greater irony Silke told the Connacht Tribune that two of the other members discriminated against by GARN for their conscientious beliefs were themselves foreign nationals.
