Garda faces prosecution for dangerous driving over crash that killed three men




A Garda is being charged for his conduct in relation to an incident that killed three men in a collision fleeing Gardaí on the N7 in Dublin two years ago.

A session of the Dublin District Coroner’s Court heard that the DPP had ordered a security guard involved in the pursuit of three men, who were members of a robbery-based criminal gang based in Tallaght, to be charged with driving offenses, reports RTE.

The three victims, Dean Maguire, 29, Karl Freeman, 26, and Graham Taylor, 31, died instantly when their BMW vehicle crashed after a head-on collision with a truck between Citywest and Baldonnel on July 7, 2021 while driving caught fire. on the wrong side of the street.

Coroner Clare Keane was told that the DPP made the prosecution decision based on a file submitted by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
