Gardai in Dublin have begun an investigation after a woman was seriously injured following a road traffic incident on Wednesday.
It is understood the investigation comes after the woman was struck by a car in Mountjoy Square, at approximately 10:25p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Gardai say the driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene and is thought to have left the scene in the direction of Dorset Street.
They say the woman was taken to Mater University Hospital with serious leg injuries.
Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and contact them.
