Gardai in Dublin have launched an investigation after a woman was seriously injured following an alleged assault.
It is understood that the investigation comes after the woman was attacked on Dame Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardai say the woman was taken to hospital following the incident which occurred between 4 and 5am.
They are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward and contact them.
