Gardaí in Co Kerry have confirmed that a post-mortem examination on a stillborn baby will determine the course of their investigation after a woman was allegedly assaulted over the weekend.
According to RTÉ News, the investigation comes after the woman presented at University Hospital Kerry with physical injuries following an incident at a house in Listowel.
It is reported the woman was 32 weeks pregnant and sadly her was stillborn on Sunday.
Gardaí investigating the incident say a man aged in his 20s has since been arrested in connection with the incident and that an investigation is currently ongoing.
It is expected a post-mortem examination on the baby will take place on Wednesday.
