Gardaí in Drogheda Co Louth have launched an investigation after a pipe bomb exploded outside a pub in the town late on Wednesday night.
It is understood the alarming incident occurred at approximately 3am on Thursday morning, a number of hours after the funeral party of Chris Ftizgerald took place in the pub.
Gardaí say thankfully no one was injured in the explosion which occurred outside The Well pub on the Newfoundwell Road.
However it is believed the front door of the premises and two cars parked outside were damaged in the incident.
