Gardaí in Co Westmeath have begun an investigation following a cash-in-transit robbery on Thursday.
It is understood the investigation comes after a cash box was stolen outside a financial institution in Kinnegad on Thursday morning.
Gardaí say the box was stolen by three men who were travelling in a gold coloured Renault Scenic car
It is understood men approached the security man at 10.20am demanding that they hand over the box.
Gardaí say the three men fled the scene in the car which was later found burnt out Ballinabrackey Road.
