Gardaí in Cork have begun an investigation following the death of a woman who was found unconscious on a street on Wednesday night.
The investigation comes after the woman aged in her 40s was found unconscious on Albert Quay, at approximately 8:40pm.
It is understood that the woman passed away a short time later after being brought to Mercy University Hospital.
Gardaí say they are currently awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
They added that the results of the post-mortem examination will determine the course of their investigation.
