Gardaí have confirmed that two men have been arrested after a Garda was dragged by a car for considerable distance during a shocking incident in Dublin City Centre last night.

In footage which has been uploaded on social media, the Garda can be seen hanging on to the side of the car after he attempted to make an arrest when the car was stopped at between Cuffe Street and St Luke’s Avenue, Dublin 8, at approximately 11.45pm last night.

The footage which was sent in to RTÉ’s Joe Duffy’s Liveline show, shows the Garda being hit and dragged by the car which tried to flee the scene.

According to The Irish Examiner the injured Garda was taken to St James’s Hospital, however thankfully it is believed that he was later discharged.

Gardai say two men aged in their 20s and 30s respectively were arrested a short time later and were found to have a quantity of illegal drugs in their possession.
