Gardai have advised motorists to take extra care on the roads over the coming 72 hours are temperatures plummet to -2c.
The latest cold snap will see severe black ice on several roads, including B roads that haven’t been gritted.
This in turn has left roads extremely slippy, with black ice prominent on most roads from 3am until 10am.
Both the gardai and the AA have issued warnings to motorists to leave early, drive slow and to try and avoid roads that haven’t been gritted.
