Gardaí and custom officials have confirmed that they have seized 54 pups after they stopped and searched a van bound for England was at Dublin Port.
Gardaí say the seizure was made as part of Operation C-Port, it us understood a number of breeds including Jack Russells, Pugs, Shih Tzu, Beagles, Cocker Spaniels, Bichons Frise were found inside the van last on Wednesday morning at approximately 8.30am.
The pups were handed over to the DSPCA and have since been quarantined and will soon be put up for adoption.
