Gardai have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a late-night assault in Navan that left a man in a critical condition.
The assault happened in Navan, Co. Meath, at around 3am on Saturday morning.
The victim was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday morning and is currently being held at Navan Garda station.
