Gardaí in Co Monaghan have arrested a man aged in his 30s following the discovery of four loaded firearms this afternoon.
It is understood the man was arrested after Gardai found four loaded pistols inside a car during a stop and search on the N2 at Lisanisk just outside Carrickmacross.
Gardaí say the man was arrested at the scene and was taken to Carrickmacross Garda Station.
They added that he is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
