Gardaí in Co Wicklow have confirmed that they have arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving with a baby inside the car.
The shocking incident which resulted in the offender receiving €400 fine and a six month disqualification occurred in Arklow on Thursday.
In a post on their Facebook page Garda Siochana Wicklow said: “This driver did not get the message.”
“Gardai in Arklow arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving.”
“He will be dealt with by way of Fixed Charge Penalty Notice, €400 fine and a six month disqualification.”
“He also had an infant in this child seat, unrestrained.”
“The child was taken to safety, Tusla were notified and a file is being prepared relating to this aspect of the case.”
