Gardai attended the scene to clear a gathering of around 200-300 youths in the south of the country on Saturday night.
The incident happened in Cork city, as large numbers of young people gathered in the Grand Parade/South Mall area of the city.
According to Gardai, many youngsters appeared to be drinking alcohol, or had access to it. At least one person was injured during an altercation.
The crowd dispersed soon after Gardai showed up.
