Gardaí in Co Mayo have sadly confirmed that a man has died following a fire at an apartment in Castlebar.
It is understood the first broke out at approximately 2am at an apartment complex known as the Old Erris Hotel on Castle Street.
Gardai say the man sadly died at the scene and his remains have since been transferred to University Hospital Mayo where a post-mortem examination will take place.
