Gardai continue to interview man (20s) after man (60s) dies in suspected assault incident in Malahide




After an incident in Malahide, County Dublin, on Saturday morning that resulted in the death of a man in his 60s, a man in his 20s has been detained, reports Breaking News.

The man was discovered unconscious at a Malahide home at before 8:30 am, and the Gardaí in Malahide are looking into all the circumstances surrounding his death.

At the spot, he was pronounced dead.

In conjunction with the inquiry, a man in his late 20s was taken into custody and is presently being held at a Garda station in the Co Dublin region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, reports Breaking News.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled when notification has been sent to the State Pathologist’s office.

The scene is saved so the Garda Technical Bureau may examine it.

An incident room has been set up at Malahide Garda Station, and a senior investigating officer (SIO) has been assigned to oversee the investigation, reports Breaking News.

To assist the deceased’s family, a family liaison officer (FLO) has been designated.

Witnesses are being urged to come forward by the Gardaí, especially anyone who were in the vicinity of Gainsborough Lawn, Malahide, Co Dublin, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, between 8 and 8:45 a.m, reports Breaking News.

Additionally, anyone with video evidence from the vicinity during that time period—including drivers with dash cams—is requested to provide it to the gardaí conducting the investigation.
