Gardai don’t want to relax 5km cordons as it will “make the job even more challenging”

With the longest and strictest lockdown in Europe, the Irish Community is expecting a relaxation of the 5km cordons which are currently being enforced by the Gardai around the country.

However, according to Breakingnews.ie, Antoinette Cunningham, the general secretary of the Association of Garda Sergeant and Inspectors (AGSI) has warned that any easing of the 5km travel restriction will make policing the pandemic even more challenging.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Ms Cunningham said that changes to the 5km limit mean the public will think they can move more freely which “is going to make the job even more challenging”.
