Gardaí in Drogheda Co Louth have confirmed that the Dublin Road has re-opened after the area was deemed safe following the discovery of a suspicious device in a car on Sunday afternoon.
In an announcement made late last night, Gardai say a cordon has been lifted following a technical examination of the scene.
They also say both the device and the car have been moved for a further examination.
The news comes after the alarm was raised at approximately 2:40pm on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí say an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
