Gardai have issued a fresh warning to Bank of Ireland and AIB customers, as online fraudsters are active again.
Customers are receiving text messages purporting to come from the banks, telling the customer that their account is ‘compromised’, or to ‘review a fraudulent transaction.’ The texts contain links to websites where the customer is asked to enter their banking details to ‘verify’ their identity. Needless to say, once this information is entered, theft follows quickly.
Gardai and bank officials are reminding people to be vigilant.
