
Gardai have opened an investigation and are following a clear line of inquiry regarding the death of a man in Cloverhill prison in Dublin on Saturday morning.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after midnight after an altercation between two prisoners.
A man in his thirties was treated at the scene, but resuscitation attempts failed and his death was pronounced shortly thereafter.
His body was transported to the city morgue, where a post mortem exam will is to be carried out.
A second man was slightly injured during the incident, which is also being investigated by the Prison Inspector and the Irish Prison Service.
