In the instance of an eight-year-old kid from Drogheda, County Louth, who went missing and is thought to be dead, Gardaí are still attempting to piece together the precise sequence of events, reports RTE.

Detectives are still attempting to ascertain the location and time of Kyran Durnin’s most recent verified sighting.

Kyran was last seen in the town two days prior, according to the gardaí, who received a missing person’s complaint about him on August 30 at Drogheda Garda Station, reports RTE.

But as this investigation progressed, details emerged that made officers believe Kyran had been gone for more than two days.

The missing person’s case was escalated to one of murder by the Gardaí yesterday.

According to Gardaí, despite their thorough investigations, they have not been able to locate Kyran, obtain any information on his present location, or find any indication that he is still alive, reports RTE.

The eight-year-old may have been slain as recently as two years ago, according to Gardaí.

The Drogheda Garda Station now features an incident room. But according to the Gardaí, they haven’t yet developed a clear line of investigation.

No corpse has been found, no possible crime scene has been established, and there is no obvious clue as to Kyran’s whereabouts or what happened to him, reports RTE.

According to Gardaí, they are investigating Kyran’s attendance record by contacting the schools he attended.

A Tusla representative said the agency is communicating with the gardaí in a statement to RTÉ News this evening.

“Tusla cannot comment on individual cases, and in particular we are conscious that there is an ongoing Garda investigation into this sensitive case. We will continue to work closely with Gardaí and other parties as required at this time,” reports RTE.
