Christmas may be a lonely time for individuals who are suffering, according to Gardaí.
Compared to 2022, there has been an 8% rise in domestic abuse reports this year, reports Breaking News.
According to Detective Superintendent Sinéad Greene, assistance is available to anyone who has been abused.
Superintendent Greene said: “We understand that Christmas can be a very frightening and isolating time for anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse, with fewer opportunities to report abuse and access routes to safety. We also understand that post-separation can be an extremely difficult time, and can in fact escalate matters. Speak to somebody you trust,” reports Breaking News.
