Gardai caught a speeding driver whose car was moving at 212k km/h in a 120 km/h.
The offending driver was caught on a stretch of the M9 near Carlow last Wednesday with the high speed of the vehicle making headlines.
Gardai stopped the car and arrested the driver, who will appear in court on charges of dangerous driving.
Motorists are advised to abide by speed limits at all times or risk accident, prosecution, or both with gardai patrolling in unmarked squad cars.
