Bono has called people to vote yes in the upcoming same sex marriage referendum. The singer was speaking in Vancouver ahead of U2’s world tour which starts on Thursday.
Bono, who was once most famous for his music is now principally involved in UN humanitarian work.
He has been the subject of much criticism here in recent years for moving his business affairs to Europe to avoid paying tax here in Ireland, yet still lives in a beautiful palatial mansion in the exclusive Viko road in Killiney.
While the leaders of the yes side have welcomed his comments, many of the rank and file campaigners on the streets feel that a person who is so divisive and far removed from everyday life in his mansion, has only done more damage than good.
Bono is pictured here with close friend Taoiseach Enda Kenny who is the leader of the yes campaign.
