General Election: Sinn Fein pledge to build 100,000 homes, introduce rent freeze and lower mortgage interest rates




Sinn Féin have pledged to build 100,000 social and affordable homes if they are elected into Government.

According to RTÉ News, the party’s housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin has said that the party plan to build 100,000 public homes on public land if they are elected.

Under the party’s proposals Sinn Féin say they will build 60,000 social homes, 30,000 affordable homes and 10,000 affordable rental homes.

The party who have pledged to tackle the current housing crisis also say they will introduce a three year rent freeze and will introduce new laws that will allow the Central Bank to reduce interest rates on mortgages.

They also plan to end long term homelessness and the need to sleep tough.
