On Thursday night, O’Connell Street was completely closed to the public and there is no movement on the quays.
Gardai say that they were on the streets right throughout the night, with the armed garda unit accompanying them.
It followed an Algerian migrant stabbing a 5-yr-old child, a woman and two other children in broad daylight in Parnell St, Dublin city centre.
“We are particularly thinking of the five-year-old girl and the member of staff caring for her who are both in serious condition in hospital,” President Higgins said, reports RTE.
