5-yr-old girl had emergency surgery after migrant stabbed her in Dublin city centre on Thursday afternoon

A 5-yr-old child and a woman in her 30s remain in hospital in serious condition after being attacked and stabbed in Dublin city centre this afternoon, reports RTE.

Two other small children are also in hospital with minor injuries, as is one person who was treated for serious injuries. One of these children – a boy – has already been released at home.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene by police and was later taken to hospital with injuries described as serious reports RTE.

A group of young children lined up outside the school in Parnell Square East around 1:30 p.m.

A man came and started attacking the children with a knife.

A five-year-old girl was stabbed and seriously injured. She is currently undergoing treatment at Temple St Hospital, reports RTE.

Gardaí are in contact with the children’s parents.
