The usual suspects who “leave their wallet in the car”, may well be leaving their wallet at home altogether if prices of pints go to price what some economists say could happen.
The cost of a night out in Ireland could soon soar to unaffordable levels, as the price of a single pint could rise to €10 in some places in the near future, according to economists.
According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the current average price for a pint of stout is €5.13.
But once recent energy hikes and other increases to the cost of living are factored in, it’s not unthinkable that some establishments begin charging €10, or close to it, over the coming weeks and months.
