Germany’s health minister is today proposing financial penalties of up to €2,500 for those parents who fail to vaccinate their children against measles and other infectious diseases.
The minister, Jens Spahn, also said that children who have not been vaccinated may face being banned from creche facilities.
The warning comes amidst a worldwide resurgence of measles both in Africa and elsewhere in the world, and it follows a similar move in New York, where measles is also on the rise. Parents with unvaccinated children there may face a $1,000 fine.
