A massive custom-made “face mask” weighing 77 pounds was placed on a giant Buddhist concrete statue in Japan. The statue is located in a temple in Fukushima Prefecture called “Houkokuji Aizu Betsuin reports CBS news.
A team of four assailed down the face of the giant statue to install the mask as a prayer to end the pandemic.
Kannon, the name of the Buddhist goddess depicted in the statue, will wear the mask until the COVID-19 situation is under control. Japan has had 778,269 infections and 14,217 coronavirus-related deaths.
