God help the homeless – It’s cold and going to get a lot colder: Met Eireann forecasts below average temperatures will continue until late November at least

It was a cold morning today as people went back to work, with lows of -2C and -3C in places.

And Met Eireann is now warning that below-average temperatures for the time of year will continue until late November at least.

Today, Monday, is expected to be a bright, dry, and very cold day, with temperatures reaching 8C or 9C at best. Monday night will see lows of 1C or 2C, but it will remain calm and mostly dry.

Wet weather will return on Tuesday though, as a band of rain moves eastward during the evening, with temperatures rising past 10C.

The overall outlook is for unsettled and cold weather to last into the weekend, and temperatures one or two degrees below average.
