There’s some relief for patients around the country this evening as the HSE support staff representatives have called off Thursday’s planned strike action.
Some 10,000 workers were to strike tomorrow after talks at the Workplace Relations Commission ended without agreement.
The SIPTU Health Division Organiser Paul Bell had acknowledged that tomorrow’s strike would have a dramatic impact on hospital services and patients, and described the dramatic situation as “most serious”, according to RTE.
However, Bell announced tonight that the planned strike was on temporary hold until early next week after it emerged there could be some leeway with talks resuming this evening.
