A 4-yr-old girl has miraculously survived five days alone in the Brazilian rainforest after she went missing in the from the Rio Maniva community, in Para, in the north of the country.
Ana Vitoria Soares Cardoso was reported as missing on 29th December 2019, having last been seen playing with her eight-year-old sister in a canoe.
Her family had feared the worst, thinking the child made have drowned and the main focus of emergency services, once alerted to the missing child, was scouring the river with divers searching for a body.
However, girl was found some five days later wandering the forest, two kilometres from where she was last seen.
The toddler had survived in the rainforest by eating fruits she managed to find and drinking river water.
The child was found to be in good condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
