The Government have reportedly promised that €102m project to upgrade a road known as “the most dangerous stretch in Ireland.”
It is understood the much needed funding will be used to upgrade a stretch of road on the N4 between Castlebaldwin and Collooney, Co Sligo. The road has claimed a number of lives over the years and the N4 Action Group have welcomed the news saying it was fantastic news that funding for the road was being provided in the Government’s Capital Funding Plan.
Bernard Mulhern of the N4 action group told reporters: “It really is a bittersweet day as we remember the families locally, nationally and internationally who lost their loved ones along this notorious stretch.”
